We are seeking 3 full time interns for the 2020 season. Previous farm experience is always a plus but is not required.
We want to empower our interns to become the next generation of farmers, therefore as a Frisky Girl Farm intern you will be involved in every part of the process of growing food, from greenhouse seeding, transplanting, drip irrigation, tilling, hand weeding, harvesting, processing, and marketing of over 50 varieties of produce and flowers.
Farming can often mean hard work and long hours; you must be prepared to work in any weather conditions, bring sunscreen, a water bottle and appropriate clothing. A large sun hat is highly recommended to protect your face from the sun. All hand tools and power tools will be provided by the farm, but if you would like to wear gloves you should bring your own.
Our internship runs May-September (start and end dates flexible) and you are expected to commit to the entire season. Interns work 5 days a week, 8-10 hours per day. Accommodations will include a shared bunk house, kitchen, and bathroom. Meals will mostly be on your own, but there will definitely be communal meals that happen from time to time. Intern compensation includes housing, a $700/month stipend and all the fresh veggies and flowers you could want.
North Bend, Wa is a wonderful community and we'd love for you to be a part of it! You'll have the opportunity to work shifts at the farmers market, participate in dinners and other special events hosted on the farm. We are located 3 miles out of downtown; an easy bike ride to grocery stores, restaurants, bars and outdoor activities. There are many hiking and mountain biking trails located within a few miles of the farm.
Throughout the season we will work to provide educational opportunities outside the farm for our interns. This may include field trips to other farms, lectures, informal class time and further reading.
COMPENSATION: This position is stipend + non-monetary compensation
Details: On farm housing, $700/month plus all the veggies you can eat!
